Iconic Design and Unique Architecture

This unique redevelopment project designed by internationally renowned Ian Ritchie Architects celebrates the Farsons Brewery heritage. Inaugurated in 1950 with the purpose of brewing and bottling many of Malta’s iconic beverages and brands such as Cisk Lager and Kinnie, and now being restored and redeveloped into a mixed commercial development, Trident Park aims to re-establish itself as a landmark in Malta not only for its heritage but also for its state of the art design and eco-technological innovation.

The original building was planned and designed by Lewis V. Farrugia, an architect by profession, and William Bryce Binnie, the famous Scottish architect known for various iconic buildings around the world primarily the old East Wing of the Arsenal Stadium in the UK and also The Phoenicia Hotel in Malta. A development of many unique characteristics, the Farsons Brewery was one of the first buildings of its magnitude built entirely in concrete which housed the industrial process of beer production. Another particular and truly uncommon aspect of this building is that the machinery preceded the building in its design, dictating the shape and construction of the building itself. Today, this industrial process, and its related machinery, is being restored and will be visible from almost every floor of The Brewhouse, exposed for all to admire.

To appreciate Trident Park further, one must take a walk down memory lane – literally – as the walkways situated at every floor connect the 7 office buildings to each other and also to the carpark. These are a reproduction of the walkway still found at ground floor level through which bottles and other goods were once transported to and from the factory.

This is not the only historical and unique feature that is being honoured through renovation and architectural innovation. The 200 meter Colonnade, which forms part of the whole 250 meter  façade, is also receiving its fair share of restoration. This Grade 2 listed façade, which holds similarities to the art deco of the old East Stand of the Arsenal Stadium, gives Trident Park the prestigious recognition of an industrial heritage site.

The Trident Park Grade A green office campus is faithfully embracing and honouring both its own historical journey and the Island’s heritage while following best practices in respecting the environment.
